Is 8 July 2020 the “Emergency Budget”?

by | Jul 2, 2020

Ending the speculation the Treasury have confirmed that the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, will present an “emergency Budget” in all but name on Wednesday 8 July 2020.  This announcement will be used to set out the support measures available in order to help the UK economy move out of the coronavirus lockdown.

Whilst it has not been officially called an “emergency budget”, its official title is a Summer Economic Update, the Chancellor will want to be clear on the Goverment’s plans to rebuild the economy focusing on new job creation schemes in order to deal with rising unemployment.
